Hello,

In today’s post I am going to share with you all the addresses I find in Glasgow and its area where it is possible to shop “Zero Waste” but first I am going to share with some tips to shop without buying plastic in a regular grocery store.

If you are not ready to change your habits and still want to shop at your regular grocery store, there are some things that you can do to make it possible. First, for the vegetables and fruit section there are always plastic free alternative that are often cheaper than the plastic wrapped products. More, there are often bulk section in regular and fresh product such as meat and fish that are not packaged yet so it is possible to ask the stand vendor to give them to you without plastic wrap and instead putting them in your jar for example.

Now, I am going to give the different stores that I found in Glasgow and its area where it is possible to shop 100% plastic free.

1- Locavore

It is a Glasgow-based enterprise in the Southside which wanted yo build a sustainable local food system. There are organic products sourced from local farmers, in the store there is a important packaging free groceries station with grains, seeds, pasta, spices…More it is possible to fill up liquid products such as oil, milk even fresh peanut butter ! You can also re-fill your cleaning products in your own bottles. There are almost everything, even fresh bread daily baked by local bakeries.

2- Demijohn

It is based in the West-End go Glasgow, it is a liquid deli where you can find packaging free oils, vinegar, spirits but also jams and sauces for example. You can bring your own jars but once you’ll buy a bottler from them, it will be possible to reuse it as long as you want in the store.  All the products come from small producers in the UK and Mediterranean countries, more the store is clear about its supply chain.

3- The V&V Cafe

More than just a café, there is a vegan packaging-free retail section, it is also possible to grab some vegan pastries and cakes freshly baked.
