In today’s post I am going to share with you my listing of what you need to shop Zero Waste, this is a short list of the type of tools you need to shop in your grocery store. First of all, I will advice you to change some habits, such as the type of store. Indeed, a traditional grocery store will have a lot of plastic packaging so it will more challenging to shop Zero Waste. At the beginning of your lifestyle transition you are not forced to change completely your habits, for example you can still shop at your regular stores but targeting the plastic free products and buy the others products you did not find in a bulk speciality store or in a grocery store with a bulk section.
First my essentials that you need to shop zero waste. This is a list of things that I think you need to have to start this lifestyle
1. Bulk bags of all sizes
Reusable bags in cotton or canvas will help you shop your bulk products more easily. Instead of buying rice or pasta in a plastic bag, go to the bulk section in your store (or a bulk specialty store) and fill your bags. Cotton bags are easier to wash and you can also make your own if you are brave enough.
2. Tupperware and glass jars
Glass (or mason) jars are great tools to shop liquid products or products that you can not fill in a cotton bags. More, the jars will help you arrange your products once you will be at home.
When you shop with mason jars it is important to carry a arable marker to write the tare of the jar on the lid and also the bulk item number, it will help make the checking out easier for you but also the checkout person who will not be used to this kind of procedure.
3. A reusable wine carrier
This wine carrier will help you to carry your jars once fill up, this bag is useful to keep the jars separated and avoid them to bouncing around in your shopping bag. This is a good tool to save your jars from crashing on each others.
